The Vista Systems "Spyder"

Spyder is a video processor for single-screen and multi-screen presentations, or to enable multiple video projectors to be blended on a single "Ultra-Wide" screen for an incredibly dynamic and informative viewing experience. It also can form the basis of a permanent "Command & Control," or "Boardroom" visual environment.

To quote Vista's web site: "Spyder's unique architecture allows for a resolution independent environment. You are no longer restricted to the resolution of a single source, or a single display.  Multiple displays can be used to increase the resolution of what the audience sees to exceed what any single display can handle by using Spyder to drive multiple displays to achieve greater brightness, image quality and resolution than previously possible."

Widescreen blending is increasingly used by event producers as the only stage decorative treatment.  No longer are they tied to hard set pieces which may need to be laboriously switched at great cost between presentations. The entire look of the stage can be rapidly changed even during presenter hand-offs, making for a much more dynamic and interesing environment.

This 20’x60’ rear screen setup consists of three soft-edge blended video projectors. The background is a high-resolution DVI output with moving elements from a workstation running “Director.” The I-Mag window is Standard Definition SDI NTSC video.  This application illustrates Spyder’s ability to easily accept and combine various scan rates and formats.

The screen shown here is the entire set for the event.
